My mother was among the first Filipino nurses to arrive in Austria in the 1970s. She still tells me with great enthusiasm about this exciting and life-changing experience. However, there were several obstacles, bureaucratic hurdles, and misunderstandings to overcome. It seems like history is repeating itself now, as once again, there is a shortage of skilled workers in the health sector, and people are seeking support from the Philippines, just like back then.
Due to some unfortunate events in my family, we also faced a shortage of nursing staff. When the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Philippines and Austria for the recruitment of skilled professionals in October 2023, I felt proud. Thanks to my extensive professional experience, I am well-versed in the Austrian economy. Along with my family and reliable partners, we established the agency "24HelfendeHände."
